Coimbatore: Helmet awareness rally by police and volunteers held in Pollachi ahead of Road Safety Week.
On the occasion of the 32nd Road Safety Week, various awareness programs are being conducted for the public on behalf of the Regional Transport Department throughout Tamil Nadu.

As part of this, an awareness rally for wearing helmets for two wheelers was held today on behalf of the Pollachi Regional Transport Department to create awareness among the general public about the need to wear a helmet. The rally in Pollachi was flagged off by Superintendent of Police DSP Sivakumar and Regional Transport Officer Muruganantham.

The rally started in the Mahalingapuram Arch, Coimbatore Road and proceeded through the main streets including Puthiya Thitta Road, Raja mill Road and Palladam Road.

More than 200 policemen and volunteers, wearing helmets, marched on two-wheelers. The Regional Transport Department officials also distributed leaflets to the public on various awareness slogans, including not to drive under the influence of alcohol, to abide by road safety rules and to co-operate with the officers to create an accident-free Tamil Nadu.
