Coimbatore: BJP farmer's wing organized a pongal event yesterday at Arasur, Coimbatore. BJP'S national member CP Radhakrishnan, BJP's state cultural leader Gayathri Raguram and other party members took part in the event.
Women who participated in the event, followed various Tamil traditions and kept pongal at the event venue. Gummi dance and an exhibition of various country bulls, horses and bullock carts were highlighted at the event.
BJP State Vice President Annamalai attended the event and addressed the media. During his address he conveyed pongal wishes to everyone and said that the pongal celebrations this year has given a positive vibe to the people.
He then thanked the parents at the gathering for bringing their next generation to the event and said that this event was an effort to bring back the lost traditions of Tamilnadu and is not related to the upcoming assembly elections.
During his interaction with the media BJP State Vice President Annamalaisaid that Congress in the year 2011 issued a ban on Jallikattu and created confusion over the event. He said that Rahul Gandhi did not understand about the culture and tradition here and that caused us to lose indigenous breeds. However the farmers are now slowly trying to get back in form.

Annamalai IPS then said that DMK Official Udhayanidhi Stalin who does not know anything about agriculture has joined with Rahul Gandhi in saying that BJP is ruining the culture of Tamilnadu. He then questioned Udhayanidhi Stalin for proof regarding this accusation and also questioned Rahul Gandhi whether he understood the mistake made by congress in 2011.
When asked about Gurumurthy's comments on Sasikala. BJP State Vice President Annamalai said that Gurumurthy's opinion was as an editor of Thuglaq magazine and that BJP has no opinion on it. He further said that it was a personal opinion by Gurumurthy and BJP has no stand on it.
Annamalai IPS then said that BJP is in alliance with AIADMK and that he didn't personally know details regarding the Gurumurthy incident and that it is wrong to address a woman that way.
When asked about his constituency in the upcoming elections, BJP State Vice President Annamalai said that he is working on developing BJP party in Sulur area and refused to answer regarding the constituency in which he will be contesting.
