Police authorities say that the officials have arrested around 40 members yesterdayfor gambling and have seized a total amount of 42,000 from the gamblers.
Coimbatore: Police in various stations recieved tips about illegal gamblings near the areas of Komangalam and Annur.
After this, the police officials went to these places in disguise to arrest the gamblers. When cops arrived at a ground near Nallampalli in Komangalam, they found a 11-member team who were gambling in rooster fights.
On seeing the police officials they gamblers tired to escape only to be caught later by the cops. Police officials then arrested the gamblers and seized 27 motorcycles and cash of worth ₹20,650.
Similarly, Annur police department officials arrested a 5 member team who were involved in gambling at rooster fights. Police officers then seized 2 roosters and ₹200 from that area.
Komangalam police department authorities then received a tip about gambling activities at a house in Kanjampatti, Pollachi and raided the place. The cops found a 13 member gang at that house who were involved in card gambling. Police authorities seized cash amount of ₹8,491.
At another incident, Perur police officials raided a place near Sundakamuthur to find 5 individuals involved in gambling. Cops arrested the gamblers and seized ₹11,550from them.
