Tirupur: Inauguration ceremony held for Jallikattu festival to be held on January 31 in Tirupur. Jallikattu organizers say that Jallikattu festival will be held with priority given to Kangayam breed bulls.

Jallikattu festival is held on behalf of Alagumalai Jallikattu Bulls Welfare Society after the annual Pongal festival in Alagumalai, Tirupur district. The Jallikattu Festival is scheduled to be held on January 31 on behalf of the Alagumalai Jallikattu Bulls Association on January 31.

The inauguration ceremony was held today by Palladam constituency MLA Karaipudur Natarajan.
In order to protect the native cows, the Kangayam breed bulls will be given priority and the Jallikattu festival will be held and 500 bulls from different parts of Tamil Nadu will be allowed. Jallikattu organizers also said that they are going to hold the jallikattu competition by following the rules of Coronavirus prevention.

This was followed by Kaanum Pongal at the foothill of Alagumalai, followed by a rangoli competition and 'kummi' competition for women.
