Coimbatore: Pongal Festival was vibrantly celebrated today at the Valparai Municipality Complex in Coimbatore. This event was organised by Valparai Municipality and Tourism Officials.
Coimbatore District Collector Rajamani was the Chief Guest for the event who inaugurated the games and celebrations for the day. Valparai MLA Kasthuri Vasu, District Tourism Officer Aravind and Valparai District Secretary Mayil Ganesan took part in the event.
MLA Kasthuri Vasu during her address thanked the Tamilnadu government for sanctioning development projects in Valparai like boat house, botanical garden and good roads around the area.
District Collector Rajamani said that Valparai is already a tourist attraction and Tamilnadu government has ordered to make the destination more beautiful by ordering the District Collector's to complete the development projects quickly.
Post this District Collector Rajamani conveyed the pongal wishes and handed over trophies, gifts to the winners of the Pongal Games. Later District OAP Amma Scooters were given to women from Valparai.
Valparai Tahsildar Raja Valparai Tourism Officer Aravind Deputy Tourism Officer Sathish Kumar, Tourism organiser Suresh Ali and other officials and party members participated in the event.
Over 500 people who participated in the event thanked the officials for organizing the event.
