Father who tried to take away a 6-day-old baby from the hospital caught in Nilgiris


The Nilgiris: Police have nabbed the father of a 6-day-old baby girl who was born at the Ooty Government Hospital in the Nilgiris district.

A 6-day-old baby girl who was born at the Ooty Government Hospital in the Nilgiris district went missing yesterday evening. The health department informed the Ooty G1 police. During the investigation, a CCTV camera in the area revealed that a person was carrying the child to the Coonoor Pillurmattam area. The police immediately continued to search.

With the help of Government Hospital Dr. Vijayaraj and the nurses the police caught the person who was hiding there and rescued the child from him and handed over the child to the mother Gowri. Investigations revealed that the person who abducted the child was Gowri's husband Shanmugavel (37) and he did so due to a family dispute. Police are investigating the child's father Shanmugavel regarding the incident.
