Coimbatore: Rs. 40000 robbed by breaking temple hundi in Coimbatore. Jaya Mariamman Temple is located on Madukkarai Road near Podanur, Coimbatore. The temple priest locked the temple as usual last night and went home. Unidentified persons who broke the lock of the temple at midnight and moved the hundi inside the temple and then took it to a hidden place a little distance away. They broke the hundi, took only Rs. 40,000 from it, and left the hundi there and fled.
The priest who went to open the temple this morning was shocked to find that the temple had been broken into and the hundi was stolen. The public then reported the matter to the police. Police immediately rushed to the scene and conducted an investigation. They found the hundi thrown a short distance away from the temple. Podanur police have registered a case and are searching for the unidentified person who broke the temple bill and looted the money.
