Chennai: With the AIADMK - BJP parties forming an alliance, there was an ongoing controversy regarding the next Chief Minister candidate for Tamilnadu in the upcoming assembly elections.
Putting an end to the ongoing controversy, BJP National Secretary CT Ravi said that "AIADMK will decide the chief minister candidate as they are a larger party inTamilnadu."
Controversy began when BJP State President L Murugan said that BJP will have a final say while deciding the chief minister candidate for Tamilnadu despite the announcement made by AIADMK members. BJP continued to make these statements despite being a party that has struggled to cross NOTA in most constituencies in all of the previous elections.
This statement created a controversy inside the circle of AIADMK party which made the members to repeatedly mention Edapadi Palanisamy as the chief minister candidate from AIADMK party during every press meet.
AIADMK party members unanimously decided Edapadi Palanisamy as the chief minister candidate on January 9th. After this, AIADMK party deputy organiser and Lok Sabha MP KP Munusamy said that no one should dream of having an alliance party rule in Tamilnadu and that AIADMK does not need it.
This ongoing controversy has now finally ended when BJP National Secretary CT Ravi addressed the media in Trichy. CT Ravi also said that Edapadi Palanisamy and O Panneerselvam are backing BJP in the upcoming elections and that BJP is not going to take KP Munusamy's opinion seriously.
