Residents of the area don't have access to basic amenities of water and electricity.
Tirupur: Since 2002, more than 150 families have been living in the slums at Kallapuram village in Udumalaipet of Tirupur District. It is said that the people of the slums were not given land ownership (Patta) even after approaching the government officials at multiple instances during the last 15 years.

People of this slum who are below the poverty line, do not have access to any basic facilities like electricity and drinking water. Locals have reported this many times to the Tirupur District Administration Office who haven't taken any action in the recent years.

Deeply affected by the delay made by the government officials, the locals today participated in a protest throwing down their Aadhaar cards, Election cards and ration cards at the Tirupur Collectorate as a form of protest. Affected public then participated in a protest at the Tirupur Collectorate to convey the struggles they are facing.
