Fire accident at a pharmacy warehouse in Singanallur! Lakhs of medicines burnt!

Coimbatore: Huge fire accident at a medicine storage facility in Singanallur, Coimbatore. Crores of medicines burnt to ruins at the fire accident that happened earlier in the morning today.

Apollo Pharmacy had their storage unit near Uzhavar Sandhai in Singanallur. The pharmacy which has multiple branches across Tamilnadu, stored medicines at the warehouse near Uzhavar Sandhai which are then taken to cities like Tirupur, Erode and The Nilgiris for sales.

This fire accident was reported to the Singanallur Fire Department officials when warehouse guards and neighbours reported the incident of a huge fire at the warehouse with heavy dark smokes at 3 AM today morning.

On receiving the information more than 30 Fire Department Officials in more than 3 fire trucks arrived at the pharmacy premises. Fire department officials then sprayed high pressured water to contain the fire along with water from a private water supply company.

After a long struggle which lasted for 6 hours, the fire was brought under control. Medicines which are used to treat common cold to high end medicines were said to be destroyed in this fire accident.

Singanallur Police Department are investigating the cause of this fire accident and are looking at multiple angles which may have led to the fire. Police officials said that total loss will be revealed post investigation.

With crores of medicines lost in the fire accident, there will be a huge demand for stock at the pharmacies outlets.
