Ruling party banners continue to be placed in violation of regulations in Coimbatore ration shops : DMK urges action

Coimbatore: Ruling party banners continue to be placed in violation of regulations in Coimbatore ration shops. For the Pongal festival ration shops offer Pongal gift packs of Raw rice, jaggery, and Rs. 2,500 to card holders.

For this the ruling party has tied flags and placed leaflets in front of several ration shops making it look like it was their Pongal gift. A case was filed in the Chennai High Court on behalf of the DMK that banners should not be placed in front of ration shops for which it was announced that banners should not be placed and leaflets should not be distributed.

The ration shops in various places including Coimbatore Ramanathapuram, Puliyakulam, Sungam, Nallampalayam, Samy Nagar, Madukkarai, Thondamuthur have banners placed by the parties in violation of court orders and they have not been removed till now. Apart from this, the ruling party is sitting in front of ration shops and canvassing for votes from public.

This has caused a controversy inCoimbatore district as such irregularities are not condemned by government officials. Therefore, the DMK has urged to take immediate action to remove the ruling party flags and banners placed in ration shops.
