Over 30 horses took part in the race from Coimbatore, Erode,Tirupur districts and even from Kerala.
Coimbatore: A special horse race was conducted in AS Chandrapuram village near Pollachi. The horse race was organised by the Pollachi Horse Breeders Union as a way to encourage horse breeders and to protect the horse breeds that are on the verge of extinction.

Over 30 horses took part in the race from Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur districts and even from Kerala. Kathiawari and Marwari horses which are of a height of 5ft took part in this race.

A distance of 400 m was set as the final mark for the race. Horses raced fiercely on the field as the audience cheered for the horses. Trophy was awarded to the horse owner which one the race.

Horse racing which was once the traditional mode of transport declined with the modernization and invention of vehicles. Hence the love and effort towards horse breeding began to decline.

That led to the endangerment of horses and horse race organisers said that this horse race was organised to encourage and promote horse breeding.
