Coimbatore: Ashok Kumar (27) a farmer from Kadambur, Tuticorin was involved in farming urud dal and corn in his 60 acres land. Ashok Kumar despite Covid-19 pandemic got a gold loan from the bank and used it to cultivate his corps.
Later when his crops were ready, Ashok Kumar harvested them and posted an advertisement online for buyers.
After that Ashok Kumar was contacted by an online trading company from Velandhavanam, Coimbatore last July who asked him for stock in urud dal and corn. Overjoyed by this deal Ashok Kumar sold 2 ton crops valued around 13 lakhs to the company.
As an initial payment the company paid 2.25 lakhs to Ashok Kumar but after that did not make any payments. Worried about this Ashok Kumar contacted Lurth Mary (40) owner of the online trading company from Sivananda Colony, Coimbatore.
Lurth Mary refused to make the payment even after requesting her so many times. Ashok Kumar filed a complaint regarding this incident at the KK Chavadi police station in Coimbatore.
Based on this complaint the police officials conducted an investigation against Lurth Mary.
During the investigation it was revealed that Lurth Mary was the head of Adhi traders and was operating it from a rented place in Velandhavanam. It was also revealed that Lurth Mary was a scamster who has cheated farmers from Tamilnadu and other states.
Police officials said that Lurth Mary has cheated 3.60 lakhs worth of black pepper from Kamalanathan - Gudalur, 5.75 lakhs worth of cashew nuts from Gnanamurugan and 10.26 lakhs worth of turmeric from Vaibhav - Maharashtra.
It was also revealed that Lurth Mary spent the amount cheated from farmers or a fancy life and luxury cars.
