Good time for Textile Industry Cotton price between Rs 42,000 to Rs 44,000 per candy: Yarn Market is also looking good says, Industrialists
Coimbatore: Textile industrialists have conveyed their happiness over the cotton price which at present is sold for Rs 42,000 to Rs 44,000 per candy (one candy=356 kilos of Cotton). They have also said that yarn market is also looking good.
Textile industry plays a vital role in providing employment to crores of people across the nation. In Tamilnadu, more than 60 lakhpeople have got employment in this sector. More Women from rural sides across the state have got jobs in this sector which is to be noted.
Each year Cotton season is between November - October. On an average each year 350 lakh bales( one bale = 170 kilos of cotton) are produced in India among which 50 lakh bales will be exported and remaining 300 lakh bales would be used inside the country. Previous year and also this year till now Cotton season is good which has given a relief to the textile industrialists.
The South India Spinners Association (SISPA) President, Murugesan said, "During previous year the Cotton season was good and due to pandemic outbreak nearly 100 lakh bales of Cotton has been carried over to this year Cotton season. Apart, this year also the Cotton season is looking so good so far. As per today's situation One Candy Cotton is priced between Rs 42,000 to Rs 44,000. On the other side the yarn market is also looking good. All the spinning Mills are functioning as usual. In spite of having the potential to operate 100%, due to migrant workers shortage at present only 70% of the manufacturing process has been carried out."
