CBI officials take three Pollachi sex scandal accused into custody: remanded to Gobi jail


Coimbatore: CBI decided to take all three Pollachi sex scandal accusedinto custody and all 3 arrested were transferred to Gobi jail. In Pollachi, Coimbatore district, college students were being sexually abused and videotaped for the past few years. Five people, including financier Thirunavukarasu and civil engineer Sabarirajan, were arrested and jailed by the police in 2019 following a complaint lodged by a victim.

The case was transferred to the CBI and the CBI police raided the homes of 5 arrested persons, seized laptops and cellphones and it was revealed that few more were involved in the offence. CBI officials have been camping in Pollachi for the past few days to monitor those involved in the case.

In the first phase, three people were arrested, including Arulanantham, who was the secretary of the AIADMK student wing. They were later produced him before Coimbatore Magistrate Court Judge Nandini Devi. The trial judge remanded all three in custody for 15 days and were lodged in the Coimbatore Central Jail under heavy security.

They underwent a medical examination and coronavirus test at the Coimbatore Government Hospital before being jailed. Following this the 3 persons arrested in the Pollachi sex case were transferred to Gobi jail as per the instructions of the doctors and the CBI has re-investigated the connection of several more people in the Pollachi sec scandal case. Three more were arrested yesterday on the basis of confessions given by 3 more women who were victims of the investigation.

A medical examination was carried out before he was lodged in Coimbatore Central Jail. The doctors advised police to isolate them for 15 days. Based on this, all 3 of them were transferred from Coimbatore Central Jail to Gobi Jail last night with heavy police security.

It is expected that many more people will be included in the case during such detention and interrogation. CBI officials continue to camp in Pollachi and investigate those who were in contact with 3 people including Arulanantham.
