Coimbatore: Around 3,351 saplings to be planted at South India Textile Research Association by Siruthuli and Indian Texpreneurs Federation (ITF).

Siruthuli made a green start to the year with a tree plantation at one of the busiest places of Coimbatore, next to the Airport road junction at South Indian Textile Research Association (SITRA) premises. Marching ahead in its mission of planting atleast one tree for every citizen of the city, the event was organised to make more people aware of the need for re-greening the city which is fast becoming a concrete jungle. The event also happened to be a curtain raiser of the 13th edition of the Kovai Vizha.

The programme started early in the day with enthusiastic participation from members of ITF (Indian Texpreneurs Federation). A total of 3351 native plants were planted at the site as per the Miyawaki method which will soon become a green belt in the busy traffic junction of Avinashi road.

Plants are sponsored by ITF as part of theirITF Regreen scheme which focuses on working towards conservation of the environment. The program was presided by Shri Prabhu Damodaran, Convenor ITF, who inaugurated the event by planting the first sapling of the plantation followed by the others. Members of the ITF, Kovai Vizha, Staff and officials of SITRA, Managing Trustee of Siruthuli, Smt Vanitha Mohan, Apex members and staff were in attendance. Shri Prabhu Damodaran also released the January 2021 edition of “Noyyal Times”, the Quarterly news magazine of Siruthuli and it was received by the members of ITF and other guests.
