Coimbatore: Public from a remote village Ponnandampalayam are on an indefinite hunger strike requesting the government to bring their village which is part of 4 local governing bodies under one.
Enforcing the government to take immediate action regarding this the local public went on an indefinite hunger strike.

Prof Kanagasabapathy, the State VP of BJP had visited the villagers who were protesting and had assured to take up the issue with District Collector. Karthikeya Sivasenathipathy had visited the village and assured support once the elections are over.
Prof Kanagasabapathy talked with the villagers and was part of the representation that went to the District Collector and he urged the collector to take up this serious issue.
After the advice of the rural development department, revenue department and police officials the protestors met the District Collector to discuss the issue.
During the talk, the District Collector assured that urgent issues like drinking water issues of Ponnandampalayam will be addressed immediately. The District Collector also assured that documents for bringing Ponnandampalayam village out of 4 local governing bodies and into one governing body will be collected within 10 days. He also promised that a government order will be made within two months / before the elections.
After this assurance from the District Collector the protestors decided to end their hunger strike.
The protestors then thanked the media officials, government authorities and others who helped during the protests.
