Speeding brick lorry crushes auto and damages hotel compound wall: No loss of life


Coimbatore: In Coimbatore, a lorry carrying bricks crashed into an auto and hotel compound wall at around 6 this morning. Fortunately no casualties were reported. Due to the presence of brick kilns on the Thadagam road in Coimbatore, it is common for brick lorries to travelin the area from 3 am to 7 am.

As a result of either reckless driving, more than 10 brick lorries have collided in the last six months alone. More than 5 of them have died. The matter has been reported to the District Collector and the Police several times but no action has been taken till now. The lorry drivers are racing and competing to unload a maximum number of loads.

This morning MSRR lorry carrying bricks came and crashed because the brakes failed and crashed into a car and an auto parked in the area. The truck then crashed into the hotel compound wall. The people going for their early morning walk saw this and informed the Saibaba Colony police. Police arrived at the scene and are investigating the truck owner and cleaner. The public demanded that restrictions be imposed on trucks carrying bricks.
