Coimbatore: Injured iguana found during a cleanup drive by forest department. They were involved in clearing roadside debris at the Forest Reserve and the Wildlife Sanctuary when they found an iguana with injuries.
Coimbatore: Injured iguana found during a cleanup drive by forest department. They were involved in clearing roadside debris at the Forest Reserve and the Wildlife Sanctuarywhen they found an iguana with injuries. From 8 am to 12 noon yesterday, the Tamil Nadu Wildlife Conservation Organization in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department was involved in the removal of glass bottles and polythene debris on both sides of the roads from the Mangarai Forest under the Coimbatore Wildlife Sanctuary Division and the Thudiyalur Division to the Anaikatti Ashram.
Cleaning work was done in collaboration with Nature & Animal protection environmental organizations. About 1 and 1/2 tons of bottles and polythene waste were collected and handed over to Mangarai Forest Station. The forest department will then hand over the garbage to the Veerapandi panchayat. Also, an injured iguana was caught on the roadside by Salim Ali and was handed over to Forest officer Arun Singh.
