Dr Rajesh Babu appointed as President of IMA Coimbatore for 2021

Coimbatore: Dr V Rajesh Babu has been appointed as the new President of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Coimbatore Chapter for the year 2021.



Coimbatore: Dr V Rajesh Babu has been appointed as the new President of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Coimbatore Chapter for the year 2021.



The installation ceremony for appointment of new office bearers for IMA - Coimbatore Chapter was held today at IMA Hall here in the presence of District Collector K Rajamani, Chief Guest, Dr Jayalal, President IMA HQ and TN Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan who took part in the ceremony through video conferencing and congratulated the new office bearers.



The outgoing President Dr CP Shanmugasundaram formally installed Dr V Rajesh Babu as the new President and administered the oath of office. Meanwhile, Dr Priya Kubendiran took charge as the Secretary and Dr. B. Koshalram as Finance Secretary.



Addressing the gathering, newly inducted President, Dr Rajesh Babu expressed his gratitude to fellow members and executive members of IMA. He then listed out ten proposals in which the IMA Coimbatore chapter will be focusing on in the year 2021. Among them are Tele consultation , Caliberation of equipment, reaching out to villages and sensitising them on good healthcare. 

He also briefed on "Singapen", a program conceptualised to empower women by creating awareness on the health woes faced by them. 

Dr. C.N Raja, Immediate Past President of IMA TNSB informed that TN IMA is the first State and chapter in India to appeal to both state and central government for the immediate insurance cover for one crore frontline workers. He added that TN IMA was also the first body to stress the importance of trained staffs and nurses in handling Covid vaccine. 

He went on to say that TN is also again the first state to provide 2 lakhs to Covid martyrs and is the forerunner of the national body. The State has also passed an GO of 25 lakh for the healthcare because of IMA, he added. 

Dr J.A. Jayalal, President of IMA HQ in his address condemned the central government for its stance on allowing mixopathy and reiterated that IMA will never allow such things to happen. 

Members of IMA along with their family members and well wishers took part in the installation ceremony.



The newly appointed President Dr Rajesh Babu holds his masters in Neurosurgery and is presently a consultant in Ganga Hospital, here. He has served in Government medical College in the Nilgiris and as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery in Coimbatore Medical College.
