Post inauguration Minister SP Velumani gives away welfare kits to pregnant women.
Coimbatore: Rural development minister SP Velumani inaugurated the new Amma mini clinic in the areas of Kannapa nagar and Rathinapuri. Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian also participated in the inaugural ceremony.
After the inauguration ceremony Minister SP Velumani spoke to the media about the various welfare schemes sanctioned by the AIADMK government in Coimbatore.
"We are working after Amma's life goal which was to only serve the people of TamilNadu. It's with her blessings Hon'ble Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy and our fellow ministers are doing our best for the welfare of the people of the state. To reduce the traffic in Coimbatore we are now building bridges.
Under our government 5 government colleges were opened in Coimbatore. Under the scheme everyone needs a house - Coimbatore has the largest number of houses built than any other city in India. The amma mini clinic is one among such welfare plans that we are implementing in the best interest of the people.
The clinic helps the poor to afford medical help and that is the main idea behind creating this amma mini clinic scheme. We have carefully placed all the amma mini clinics where no primary health centre is present so that people can use the service of the amma mini clinic to the maximum. Over 70 amma mini clinics are planned to be opened in Coimbatore with 5 mobile amma clinics. We have a doctor, a nurse and one medical help at our amma mini clinic which will be open on all days except Saturday.
The Amma Mini Clinic within panchayat limits will be open from 8 in the morning to 7 in the evening while in the corporation limits the clinic will be open for another extra hour. This way it will help the daily wage workers to get medical help after coming back from their work. At the amma mini clinic medicines will be issued immediately after checkup and general treatment will be done like fever, cold etc including check-up for pregnant women.
The amma clinic will also provide check-up for diabetics, blood pressure and even medicines for them so that old age people will not have to be worried traveling long distances to get themselves checked. The Hon'ble Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has inaugurated multiple plans for the public welfare in Coimbatore like Doctor. Muthulakshmi reddy pregnancy fund, mobile clinics, amma check up plans for women and general body checkup etc.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy the pongal gift is to be given to 10,11,865 eligible families along with 1kg rice, sugar, cashew nuts, sugarcane and other assorted dry fruits to celebrate the festival of harvest. We are in plans to distribute the 2500 rupees pongal gift from January 4th." said Minister SP Velumani.
