Rape of a minor girl: In a sensational verdict Coimbatore POCSO Court sentenced driver to life imprisonment
Coimbatore: In the rape of a minor girl, the Coimbatore POCSO Court in a sensational verdict sentenced driver to life imprisonment. Balan (age 51), a driver from Saibaba Colony, KK Pudur, Coimbatore used to take students to school in his van. He intimidated and raped a disabled girl in his van. The girl's mother, who was shocked by this, lodged a complaint in 2017 and the Kattoor All Women Police. The police filed a case and arrested him.
It was revealed that he raped the girl and continued to harass her. The case is being heard in POCSO Court and Judge Radhika, who heard the case, sentenced the van driver Balan to life imprisonment and fined him Rs 50,000 yesterday. The judge also ordered that the vehicle belonging to Balan be handed over to the government and the amount for the vehicle along with the fine amount to be paid to the girl and also ordered a relief amount of Rs. 5 lakh to be provided by the government to the victim.
