Strange puja to keep the coronavirus at bay: Neem tree and Peepal tree married
Coimbatore: Public in Thudiyalur area performed a strange poojai and prayed to stop the spreading of coronavirus and got the neem tree and peepal tree married. It was attended by a large number of members of the public. There is a hundred year old Karupparayan temple in the Appanaickenpalayam next to Coimbatore. The main trees in the temple premises are the peepal tree and the neem tree. In order to prevent the spread of the disease and for the good of the world, a ceremony was held at the Karupparayan temple by making the neem tree as the female deity and the peepal tree as the male deity.
They clad a silk Veshti for the Peepal tree and a silk sari for the neem tree along with garlands. Priests performed homams and recited Vedic mantras to perform the marriage. The women tied the gold thali with yellow rope and tied three knots around the neem tree. The women who attended were given bangles and a yellow rope.
It’s rather astonishing that this poojai is performed when coronavirus is actually receding and vaccines are around the corner.
