Solid wastes are now managed based on their standard by the Coimbatore Corporation Solid waste management department.
Coimbatore: Since the corporation workers are still witnessing a lot of places where waste is dumped on the roads and waterbodies, the waste management department are now in the process of encouraging the public to separate the waste before dumping them using swach ambassadors and animators under the Clean Bharath initiative.
Sanitation department supervisors are now ordered to manage the animators used in the propaganda for Clean Bharath initiative which are allocated to every zone.
Corporation officials have requested the ambassadors to encourage the city public to separate the wastes before dumping them in the waste bins which will help in maintaining the Coimbatore City cleaner.
The waste management department now uses 186 TATA autos and 5 separate autos to collect recyclable wastes and other separated wastes from every household in the city.
Also the sanitation department workers who use pull carts to collect wastes are given green and red baskets for collecting degradable and non degradable wastes along with a blue basket to collect recyclable waste.
City Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian also had ordered the sanitation workers to use the Pulverizing machine allocated to every zone to manage garden wastes.
Later the workers are ordered to dump the recyclable waste separately in the TATA Ace van that comes to their area.
Along with this the City Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian warned that severe actions will be taken against hotels, public and vendors for dumping wastes on the roads or water bodies and for dumping wastes without segregating them properly according to the guidelines.
Corporation Commissioner has also warned other shopping complexes and private office institutions for dumping wastes on roadsides.
