Delay in payment of salaries to contract sanitary workers: Corporation administration urged to take action
Coimbatore: Corporation administration has been urged to take action as there is delay in payment of salaries to contract sanitary workers. There are 32 Government Primary Health Centers in Coimbatore. It employs more than a hundred contract staff. The corporation administration is paying the salaries to the contractors. But the cleaning staff alleges that the contractors are not paying the contract sanitary workers properly.

A contract sanitary worker said, "We have not been paid for the last two months. We have suffered a lot in the lockdown as well and we are still suffering due to salary arrears. The corporation administration should take immediate action in this regard."

A senior official of the corporation said, "We have been paying the contractors for the contract cleaning staff on the 22nd of every month. Some of the contractors are delaying the payments leading to complaints. Action will be taken on behalf of the corporation in this regard."
