Distributors' unions protest wearing black shirts condemning the double pricing policy of manufacturing companies.

Coimbatore: Distributors' unions protest wearing black shirts condemning the double pricing policy of manufacturing companies. The Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Distributors Association (FMCG) staged a protest in front of the South Taluk Office condemning the soon-to-be-sold consumer goods companies. They said manufactures were following a double pricing policy and that distributors were protesting to stop it.

They also accused that manufacturers selling goods through distributors to retailers are overpriced and offering lower prices to online and corporate entities.

About 90% of fast-moving consumer goods in India are made up of retailers and wholesalers, while only 10% are sold online at Reliance, Geomart and Bigbasket. This activity is aimed at offering higher prices for the retail business that sell 90% and low prices to the corporates who sell only 10%. Venkatesh, state president of the Consumer Goods Dealers Association, said that if the FMCG manufacturing companies fail to change this double price policy, they will join hands with the Tamil Nadu Consumer Distributors Association and the Chamber of Commerce to launch the next phase of the struggle. More than 25 people from Coimbatore took part in the demonstration.
