Coimbatore: Police on lookout for 3 persons for hoarding 2 tonnes of ration rice worth Rs 50,000. Ukkadam police received a tip off that in the Ukkadam, Coimbatore, 2 tonnes of ration rice bags worth Rs. 50,000 to be distributed to the public were illegally stored at a person's house.
Ukkadam police and civil supplies officers rushed to the spot, broke the lock of the house and went inside to inspect it. It was then revealed that 2 tons of ration rice was stored in bundles in the house which was worth Rs 50,000.
Following this, the authorities confiscated the ration rice from Kannan's house on Ukkadam Arisikadai Road and locked and sealed the house.
Police are also searching for Mani and Mohammad from Selvaputam who are indulged in the incident. The confiscated 2 tonnes of ration rice was sent to the government godown. Following this, police are investigating why the ration rice was hoarded. They are investigating in angles if there was an attempt to smuggle it to Kerala or whether there was involvement in other smuggling incidents.
