DMK party members siege Coimbatore Collectorate as no actions were taken against AIADMK members for distributing pongal tokens!

More than 200 DMK party members took part in the siege at the Collectorate office.

Coimbatore: DMK party members under the leadership of Pollachi MP Shanmuga Sundaram, District head CR Ramachandran, Paiya Gounder and Senathipathy came as a demonstration to siege the Coimbatore District Collectorate.

The collector office doors were closed to prevent the 200 members from the DMK party getting in.

The frustrated members banged the doors and argued to let them in. A panic situation aroused during this siege.

Following that the DMK party members chanted slogans against the State government, AIADMK party and Minister SP Velumani. The Coimbatore district police tried to dissolve the siege but the DMK party members continuously were agitated asking the collector office doors to be opened.

The police officials told that the District Collector was not in his office and took the party leaders to the District Revenue Officer.

The DMK party members gave the petition to the District Revenue Officer and explained their concern on AIADMK party members distributing pongal tokens after which they dissolved and went their way.

Due to this sudden siege the Coimbatore Collectorate had a tense atmosphere for more than half an hour.

When asked about this sudden siege to Coimbatore North Secretary CR Ramachandran, he said that "Pongal tokens are given and printed by AIADMK party members and even after complaining about it for so many times to the district collector and police commissioner haven't taken any action yet."

He also said that AIADMK party members are doing this under the influence of Minister SP Velumani and warned the officials that if this issue is not resolved immediately then there will be continuous protests happening across the city.

He also complained that the district collector is not present when they went to give the petition and that the police department is directly working for the AIADMK party.

Coimbatore North Secretary CR Ramachandran also said that a complaint has been filed at the election commission by DMK party regarding the distribution of pongal tokens by AIADMK members.
