Treatment ongoing for a wounded elephant in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve
The Nilgiris: Forest department have started treating an injured elephant in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.
A 40-year-old male elephant with a back injury was found wandering around the area in pain in the Bokkapuram forest under the Singara Wildlife Sanctuary in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. Upon information the forest department made efforts to treat.

A team of veterinarians Manoharan, Sukumaran, Rajesh Kumar and Kochalan informed the forest department of the elephant's whereabouts with the help of Kumki elephants. With the help of the Kumkis they chased him to the plains and injected tranquilizer with a gun. Then the Kumkis dragged the elephant and stopped it at a place and the veterinary team started treatment.
The elephant is being monitored by a team comprising Singara Forest Officer Kanthan and forest officials led by Srikanth, the deputy director of the tiger reserve.
