Case against the Hindu organization administrator for threatening for money at knifepoint
Coimbatore: A case has been registered against a functionary of Hindu Munnetra Kazhagam in Coimbatore for threatening for money from an auto driver at knife point.
Jeevanandam (51) is from Kamaraj Road, Singanallur, Coimbatore. He was walking near the bus stop there at the time of the incident. At that time, a young man who came that way demanded money from Jeevanandam and threatened him.As he refused the man, he enraged and brandished a knife and snatched Rs. 1000.
Shocked by this, Jeevanandam screamed and the people nearby rushed towards him. By the time they came, the miscreant fled. Jeevanandam lodged a complaint with the Singanallur police. During the investigation, it was revealed that the person who snatched the money at knifepoint was Shiva Manikandan (40) from Sulur Kalangal area, who is the state coordinator of the Hindu munnetra Kazhagam.
Police are prosecuting him under two sections, including attempted murder. It is to be noted that on the 25th Jeevanandam and his family tried to self immolate at the Coimbatore Collector's Office alleging occupation of his land.
