Prime Minister appreciates Coimbatore woman who made wheelchair for a crippled dog
Coimbatore: Speaking at the 72nd Voice of the Mind program, Prime Minister Modi lauded an IT worker from Coimbatore for designing a wheelchair for a dog whose legs were injured and unable to walk.
This has made their family happy for being praised by the Prime Minister. Gayatri and her father Kasilingam live in the Saibaba Colony area of Coimbatore. Kasilingam, a mechanical engineer and along with his daughter Gayatri, an IT employee, adopted a dog from the Seerapalayam area a few months ago.
The four-year-old dog 'Veera' did not have hind legs. Hence they designed a wheelchair using PVC pipe which enabled the dog to walk freely. Prime Minister Modi, impressed by it, had praised them.
When asked about the Prime Minister’s compliment to Kasilingam and Gayatri, they said, "Bharatiyar has said to love all things living in his 'Pappa pattu'. When Veera was brought from the shelter with its hind legs paralyzed, it was Bharati's song that came to our minds. We designed the 'Wheelchair' to make Veera walk. It gives us immense pleasure that the Prime Minister mentioned this on the occasion of 'Mann Ki Baat'. We hope that many will be motivated to show love and support for lives like this. It will also be a great boon to the volunteers who are involved in such acts.”
Following the Prime Minister's praise, many people are praising their compassion including the animal conservationists, volunteers and the general public.
