Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, the police on Wednesday retrieved the corpse of a transgender in a decomposed state from her home near Saibaba Colony in Coimbatore. The body was dumped in a plastic water drum.

Initial investigation reveal that Sangeetha (60) could have allegedly been murdered three days ago and the body was dumped in the water drum. The Saibaba Colony police rushed to the spot after neighbours had complained of foul smell emanating her house and after reports confirmed that she was not seen by anyone after Sunday.
Recently, Sangeetha started her new venture called Trans Kitchen in RS Puram Coimbatore, a restaurant run fully by transgenders. It was the first of a kind restaurant to be run by transgenders in Tamil Nadu. A person working for the betterment of the transgender community, she has helped many set up road side shops and eat outs, say transgenders.

Meanwhile, Sangeetha was found in a decomposed state in Wednesday morning with stab wounds in her body and dumped in a plastic water drum at her residence behind a private hospital on NSR Road, Coimbatore.

Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts arrived to the spot and traces were collected. In the first phase of the investigation, it is said that it may have been three days since she was killed. The Saibaba Colony police are investigating the murder in angles.
The body of Sangeetha found in a decomposed state has sent shock waves amid the transgender community and the people of the residential area.
