Coimbatore: In the auction held at the Anaimalai Regulated Market yesterday, the influx of copra was higher than last week.
The auction was inspected by Coimbatore Sales Committee Senior Secretary Kowsalya Mohan yesterday.
According to the Superintendent of Sales, Manivasakam, farmers from the Anaimalai area had brought 490 bundles for sale. They were graded and auctioned by the officials in the presence of traders.
265 bundles of first grade copra were sold at a minimum of Rs.10,680 and a maximum of Rs. 11,630 per quintal. 225 bundles of second grade copra went for a maximum of Rs. 9,015 and a minimum of Rs. 6,550. A total of 11 traders and 74 farmers participated in the auction. The number of bundles increased by 50 this week. A total of 235 quintals were auctioned for Rs 20 lakh.
