Coimbatore: A training camp for Coimbatore district and city police on the full utilization of the POCSO Act was held today at the Police Community Hall on Avinashi Road, Coimbatore.
Special Court Judge Radhika, who hears POCSO cases, participated in the event and raised awareness about the act.
Juvenile Crimes Division SP Jayashri said, "An increase in POCSO cases does not mean an increase in crime. Awareness about the POCSO act is increasing among the people. If anything, parents should be very careful when leaving children at the homes of relatives and neighbours. Understanding about this is on the up among parents.

Crimes against children are an injustice to them and a social injustice too. The police are hoping to get rid of it. There is hope that child abuse victims will get proper justice."

City Police Commissioner Sumit Charan, Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Arularasu, Deputy Commissioner Gunasekaran, District Child Welfare Officer Sundar and officials participated in the event.
