Coimbatore: Heavy rains for over and hour led stagnation of of rainwater and sewerage below flyovers and railway bridges in Coimbatore.
Heavy rains lashed various parts of Coimbatore including Gandhipuram, Town Hall, Ukkadam, North Coimbatore and Alandurai for about half an hour this afternoon.
The Lanka Corner railway bridge near Coimbatore railway station was flooded. Sewage mixed with rain water water stagnated to a height of about 2 feet.
Areas below the Avinashi flyover, Kikani railway bridge, Kattur railway bridge, and North Coimbatore flyover faced water stagnation as well.
Motorists suffered a lot due to this. Traffic congestion was reported in many parts of the city, including the Avinashi flyover and the North Coimbatore flyover.
