Cadres of CPI(M) have been protesting across the state, demanding the dismissal of Surappa and TN Governor's approval of the 7.5% reservation for government school students in medical seats.

As part of this, CPM members staged a protest in front of the Coimbatore South Taluk Office. The protest was led by Coimbatore Lok Sabha member and CPI(M) state committee member P. R. Natarajan.

During the demonstration, they demanded the dismissal of Anna University's Vice Chancellor Surappa, who is acting arbitrarily without the knowledge of the Tamil Nadu government. They also demanded that TN governor should approve the law for 7.5% reservation for government school students in medical seats. They said that they would engage in a series of protests if appropriate action is not taken.
