Under the scheme, the materials required to set up the terrace garden are provided at subsidized costs.
In this context, the Department of Horticulture has announced a subsidy scheme to set up drip irrigation for terrace gardens. Of this, Rs 5.2 lakh has been allocated for Coimbatore district. The officials said that those interested can also contact the Horticulture Department office.
An official from the Horticulture Department said, "Drip irrigation can be set up in two ways, with or without a sensor. The sensor can cost up to Rs 4,000 and a subsidy of Rs 1,600 amounting to 40 percent will be provided."
Officials said it costs Rs.1000 to set up drip irrigation without a sensor. Of this, 40 per cent subsidy of Rs. 400 will be provided. The target is 50 numbers for drip irrigation with sensor and 1,100 without sensor. Of this, Rs 80,000 has been allocated for sensor-based irrigation and Rs 4 lakh 40 thousand sensorless irrigation. A total of Rs 5 lakh 20 thousand has been allocated.
