Coimbatore: Minister for Transport M. R. Vijayabhaskar said that an announcement will be made soon on how many special buses will be operated across Tamil Nadu for Diwali. He further said that booking for the Deepavali festival has started at the State Express Transport Corporation counters.
Tamil Nadu Transport Minister Vijayabaskar who attended the opening ceremony of a private hotel in Palladam, Tirupur district met the members of the press. At the time he said buses that have not been operated for the past few months due to corona infections in Tamil Nadu have resumed operations. He added that in the current scenario, 60 to 70 percent of the buses are operating in and they are fully operational in the mornings and evenings and stop only in the afternoons. Afternoon service will be increased if there is a demand.
He further said, "Booking has started at the State Express Transport Corporation for the Deepavali festival. Also, a consultation meeting has been held regarding the operation of special buses for Diwali, so an announcement will be made soon. Due to the lack of buses during the COVID period, members of the public traveled on two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Currently the infections are gradually declining. In the future, all buses will be operated as before."
