Coimbatore: Truck collides with two-wheeler in Valparai, wife killed in front of husband
Coimbatore: Ramanujam hails from the Thonimudi Tea Estate next to Valparai. He works as a supervisor here. His wife Vimala was 42 years old and worked as a tea plantation worker.
Since today being a holiday on Sunday, Ramanujam and his wife came to Valparai on a two-wheeler to buy essentials and were returning in the afternoon to Thonimudi. When they were riding near Nallakaathu Estate, a lorry collided with their two-wheeler.

Vimala, who was thrown on the road, was hit on the head and lying in a pool of blood. She died on the spot. Ramanujam escaped with minor injuries. Valparai Police Sub-Inspector Satish rushed to the spot upon receiving information and retrieved Vimala's body and sent it to Valparai Government Hospital for an autopsy. Valparai Police have registered a case and are investigating.
The truck driver who caused the accident has gone into hiding. Police are on the lookout for him. The incident has caused a great deal of sorrow in the area.
