The people of the area informed the forest department that a bison Indian Gaur trapped in mud in the area. Following this, a team led by Coonoor Forest Department officer Sasikumar went to the spot and after about two hours of struggle rescued the animal out of the mud.

Initially, the animal was found to be very tired. After an infusion of glucose it had a slight movement and there was an improvement in its physical condition following which it started eating grass. The action of the forest officers who saved the Indian Gaur was appreciated by all.
