Coimbatore: Members of Students' Federation of India besieged the Coimbatore district collector's office demanding the sacking of Anna University vice-chancellor Surappa.

In Coimbatore, Students' Federation of India besieged the District Collector's Office and engaged in a protes. The protestors insisted that Anna University should not be divided into two, that the decision to make it an Institute of Eminence should be abandoned, the Central Government norms should not be accepted and that Surappa, who had written a letter to the Central Government without consulting the State Government, should be sacked.

Following this, the police negotiated with the students involved in the protest and took only the student union administrators to the collector. As a result, the protestors submitted the petition to the Collector and dispersed.
