Coimbatore: DMK Youth Wing agitates in Coimbatore against Anna University: Scuffle between police and protestors
Coimbatore: Protests are taking place across Tamil Nadu, in front of Anna University affiliated colleges and engineering colleges, demanding the resignation of Anna University Vice Chancellor Surappa. As part of this, a sit-in protest was held led by DMK state youth undersecretary Painthamizh Paari in front of Government College of Technology in Coimbatore.
Carrying banners and chanting slogans urging to dismiss Surappa, the protestors tried to besiege the college. Police present there detained the ones who tried to cross the barricade, which resulted in a scuffle.
Argument broke as the police tried to push the protestors. Coimbatore East District Officer MLA N. Karthik, District Youth Wing organizers Kottai Abbas, Ilango, Sabari Karthikeyan and many others were present. More than 250 protesters were arrested.
