Pollachi: At the consultative meeting held at the Pollachi Sub Collectorate on Thursday morning, directives were passed by the Sub-Collector to remove names of the deceased and those who have permanently moved to other places, from the electoral roll.
Pollachi: At the consultative meeting held at the Pollachi Sub Collectorate on Thursday morning, directives were passed by the Sub-Collector to remove names of the deceased and those who have permanently moved to other places, from the electoral roll.
In the meeting chaired by Sub-Collector Vaidhyanathan, representatives of all political parties took part and discussed on the polling booth and preparation of electoral roll for the upcoming state elections in 2021.
Speaking at the meeting, the Sub-Collector said, "If there are more than 1,500 voters in the polling station area of the Assembly constituency, the voter should be removed from the list of that polling station and added to the voter list of any other polling station will lesser numbers. Officials whould commence to ascertain the facilities of the polling booths and report issues to the concerned authorities for action."
He also added that steps will be taken to relocate polling booths to concrete buildings for the safety of the public. He also stressed that stringent action should be initiated to add the missing new voters to the voter list in order to achieve 100 per cent turnout.
Representatives of the political parties were requested to go through the voter lists and report discrepancies, if any.
Tashildar Thangavel, Electoral Division Taluka Officer, Supriya and several political party executives took part in the meeting.
