Only 8 passenger's travel in Madurai- Coimbatore flight on first day
Coimbatore: The much awaited flight service between Madurai and Coimbatore started on Tuesday withonly 8 passengers travelling in it.
Alliance Air had introduced a connecting flight service between Madurai and Coimbatore from Tuesday. The Airline has deployed its 70 seater ATR 72 type of Aircraft on the route. The flight will operate on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday andSunday.
As per the schedule, Flight 9I573 will depart from Bengaluru at 6:30 am andarrive in Madurai at 7:50 am. Further departing from Madurai at 8: 20 am andwill arrive in Coimbatore at 9: 10am.
Flight 9I 573 will then depart from Coimbatore at 9:35 am andreach Bengaluru at 10:35 am. The first service commenced on Tuesdayand the response was very poor. Only very few passenger's travelled on the first day.
Aviation sources said, "On the first day, only 8 passengers travelled between Madurai and Coimbatore. Also this connection flight witnessed only very few passenger's between Bengaluru- Madurai and Coimbatore- Bengaluru. Since this flight service is newly introduced, it will take some time to witness more passengers. The 'Covid-19' pandemic outbreak still prevails and the fear among the passengersabout Air travel are also some of the reasons for poor response. Things will be alright in the next 15 days since more passenger's will come to know about this new service.”
Various Industry Associations such as Kongu Global Forum(KGF) are continuing their efforts by sending requests to the civil aviation minister and various Airlines officialsboth through letters and meeting in person, conducting interactive meetings etc to start new flight services.
As a result of these efforts in spite the crisis, 'Alliance Air' has come forward to introduce new connection flight service between Madurai and Coimbatore. Hence passengers also should start using these new services which will help various airlines to think of starting new services at Coimbatore airport to various destinations such as Mangalore, Mysore, Tuticorin, Goa etc.
