Coimbatore: In a thoughtful and fitting tribute to late playback singer, SP Balasubramaniam, Siruthuli has planned to create SPB Vanam by planting 74 trees in memory of him. The wood obtained from the trees will be used to make musical instruments.
Coimbatore: In a thoughtful and fitting tribute to late playback singer, SP Balasubramaniam, Siruthuli has planned to create SPB Vanam by planting 74 trees in memory of him. The wood obtained from the trees will be used to make musical instruments.
"Under the aegis of Siruthuli, we have organised a tree planting of 74 trees for 74 glorious years of living in the memory of S P Balasubrahmanyam on Dr Kalam’s birthday - 15th October to create an evergreen SPB Vanam", the NGO said in its social media page.
The project is regarded unique, as the SPB Vanam will consist of 13 varieties of trees. The wood from the trees will be used for making musical instruments like Jack fruit, Mango, Red Sanders, Teak, Rosewood, Bamboo, Mahogany,
And, 9 varieties of Sthala Vrikshams like Magizham, Punnai, Nagalingam, Kadamba, Marudham, Vanni and Shenbagam which is special for SPB’s birth star Ayilyam will be planted at the vanam.
The event will be led and orchestrated by leading singers of Coimbatore region. However, considering the social distancing norms due to the existing pandemic situation, the NGO has informed that the event will be a low key affair and has sought the wishes from the people to make it a deserving tribute for the evergreen singer.
