Coimbatore: MP PR Natarajan demands alternate location for lands acquired for bridge works. Overbridge construction work is underway on Coimbatore-Trichy Road. A section of the flyover is planned to connect to the bypass tollroad.
Authorities have issued notices to vacate the apartments. There are more than 150 apartments in the area. MP PR Natarajan has urged the district administration to provide alternative accommodation to the public who have been living here for many years when acquiring land for overbridge works.

He came to the District Collector's Office along with the people of the area todayand met the District Revenue Officer Ramathurai Murugan and submitted the petition. He later told reporters in Coimbatore that the Highways Department, the Housing Board and the district administration were pressuring them to vacate 158 flats in the Sunga Erimedu area.
Permission was sought to remain at the residence until the Slum Clearance Board handed over the houses. Officials are saying that if 48 houses are vacated and they will be relocated immediately. Officials have promised to talk to the district collector and make the appropriate settlement so that everyone can be guaranteed a home and will be able to stay there until then. CPM district committee members UK Sivagnanam and Murthy, Alagappan and Vijayakumar were present during the meeting with officials.
