Coimbatore: Cadres of Naam Tamilar Katchi protested in front of Coimbatore South Taluk Office demanding justice for Dindigul girl who was molested and murdered.
The 12-year-old daughter of a barber from Kurumbapatti, Dindigul district, was sexually assaulted and killed last year. Those involved in the incident were arrested and an investigation was conducted.
The accused in the case, which was underway in Mahila Court, were acquitted on the 29th. Demonstrations took place across Tamil Nadu condemning this and demanding justice for the girl who was sexually abused.

As part of this, a demonstration was held in front of the Coimbatore South Taluk Office led by Pudukottai Jayaseelan, the state in-charge of Naam Tamilar Katchi. They demanded that the perpetrators should not escape and the TN government should appeal.
Speaking to reporters, Pudukottai Jayaseelan said that the court verdict is shocking and that an enquiry should be initiated and handed over to an impartial official. He said that India has become a country where women do not have security, adding witnesses backtracking on their testimonies would further increase crime and that the perpetrators should be re-tried and severely punished. More than a hundred people attended the demonstration.
