Coimbatore: TPDK protested in Pollachi condemning the transfers of cops who garlanded Thanthai Periyar statue in Cuddalore.
A few days ago, three cops garlanded a statue of Thanthai Periyar in Cuddalore district and paid homage to him. Photos of the incident went viral on social media. Following that, the three of them received transfer orders.
Several protests were held across Tamil Nadu condemning the incident. As part of this, a protest was held on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam in front of the Pollachi Sub-Collector's Office. At the time, slogans were raised against the Tamil Nadu government for transferring the cops. They said that it is the right of individuals to garland Periyar's statue and accused the Cuddalore District Police of acting in opposition to fundamental rights.

They demanded that religious symbols in government offices and police stations should be removed and festivals like Ayutha Puja should not be conducted at workplaces. They warned that the transfers of the cops who garlanded a Periyar statue should be revoked, the failure of which would lead to massive protests all over Tamil Nadu.
