Coimbatore: Kodanad murder-cum-heist case: Fierce cross-examination of prosecution witness, who gave false information, by defendants' lawyer
Coimbatore: Defendants' lawyer Anand in Kodanad murder-cum-heist case had an heated arguement as the prosecution witness gave false information in court saying that the person who died in the accident had spoken to him on the phone.
Sayaan, Manoj, Udayan, Manoj Samy, Jitin Joy, Bijin Kutty, Jamsheer Ali, Deepu, Satheeshan and Santosh Samy were arrested in connection with the murder-cum-heist case at the estate of former chief minister Jayalalithaa's friend Sasikala at Kodanad in the Nilgiris district. The case is being heard in the Ooty District Court and came up for hearing today.
Sayaan, Manoj, Udayan, Manoj Samy, Jitin Joy, Bijin Kutty, Jamsheer Ali, Deepu, Satheeshan and Santosh Samy appeared for the trial. Dr Vasan, AIADMK leader Anupam Ravi, CCTV footage analyst Raju and inspector Saddam Hussein testified. AIADMK leader Anupam Ravi testified that Kanagaraj, a key person involved in the case, spoke to him on the phone on April 29, 2017.
Anand, the lawyer for the accused, strongly objected to this. Lawyer Anand submitted the death certificate of Kanagaraj dated April 28 and claimed that he had died in a road accident. When Judge P. Vadamalai asked Anupam Ravi to explain this, he said that he had made a mistake. This caused a stir in the court.
Following this, Judge P. Vadamalai adjourned the case till the 16th of this month.
