Coimbatore: Officials said Coronavirus special fund of Rs 3.77 crore for 4,741 people has been distributed through Tamilnadu Rural Transformation Project.
TNRTP is being implemented in Tamil Nadu with World Bank funding in the field of Rural Development and Panchayats to promote businesses in rural areas, create employment, provide financial services, double the income of people and transform them into entrepreneurs.
The project is being implemented in 54 villages in 4 districts of Coimbatore district, namely Periyanaickenpalayam, Annur, SS Kulam and Karamadai. Meanwhile, the Coronavirus Special Fund was announced under TNRTP. Of this, Rs 5.16 crore has been allocated to Coimbatore district.
So far in Coimbatore district, individual loan of Rs. 50,000 has been distributed to the tune of Rs Rs. Rs 67.50 lakh had been distributed as business loans worth Rs 20,000 per person for widows, disabled, transgenders and destitutes. Rs 36 lakh had been distributed for farming and production. Rs 16.50 lakh had been distributed to production teams, Rs 20 lakh to manufacturing companies and Rs 1 to 21 people who had migrated and returned to the city to start a business. In total 4,741 people received Rs. 3.77 crore.
An official of Tamilnadu Rural Transformation Project said, "Rs 5.16 crore was announced as Coronavirus Special Fund for 5,047 people under Tamilnadu Rural Transformation Project out of which Rs 3.77 crore has been provided for 4,741. The rest of the funding will be provided to all by the end of the current year."
